Allie has had a very busy year so far. She is in the top band at her school and her band won the state band contest last year. It is a big deal to be an honor band in Texas and they are it! That means a lot of extra band practices to get ready for their performance at the TMEA conference in San Antonio in February. She plays the french horn and loves it. She takes private lessons at school once a week and her teacher, Molly Wood is phenomenal. Allie tried out for the all-district band this year and got first chair! She also tried out for the all-region band and got second chair. We didn't realize how good she was on the french horn until these competitions! Wow!
Allie's other first love is theatre! She loves both her band and theatre teachers A LOT! She is in a theatre production class and was in the school play Treasure Island. She was hoping to get a speaking part and she did as Mrs. Hawkins, the main character's mother. Now she is preparing to try out for the school's One Act play. The cast is small and all will be required to use a Scottish accent. She is nervous about this.
Allie continues to read while lying on her bed in her room with the door closed as often as possible. She is a library aide at school which she also enjoys. She is always bringing home new books and finishing them faster than she should. She recently got released as the Beehive president at church where she served for 6 months. She loves hanging out with her friends from church. They like to play the piano and sing Disney and Les Miserables songs. Allie is not taking piano lessons right now but still sits down to learn new songs regularly. She likes to sing a lot and has been teaching Sage and Sydney Castle on a Cloud from Les Mis. She would love to be in the school choir if she had the time. She is happy enough to sing in our church choir when she can.
Allie is great big sister. The girls adore her and love when she plays with them or does their make-up. It has been fun to have Allie and Caden at the same school again. They ride the bus together and know a lot of the same kids. It is fun to hear them banter about crushes and share school gossip. Allie hates to be late and gets visibly upset if things are heading that way. She sometimes complains but will always do what you ask her to. She gets to be in charge of the girls regularly while I take people to appointments and sometimes she gets to make dinner. She is a great, easy first child!
